White House Clarifies Trump's Hand Bandages Amid Health Speculation

Amid growing speculation, the White House has provided clarity regarding the adhesive bandages seen on President Donald Trump’s right hand recently. Officials have indicated that these bandages result from the president’s numerous handshakes, assuring that his health is not a concern.

On Thursday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confronted this matter, reiterating previous remarks about bruising on Trump’s hand that prompted media inquiries. Leavitt noted that the president’s active schedule, which includes greeting supporters and maintaining handshakes throughout the day, along with his daily intake of aspirin, could lead to minor bruises. “The president is literally shaking hands constantly,” she remarked. “This, along with aspirin, can cause the marks you see.”

At 79, Trump holds the record as the oldest person elected to the U.S. presidency and has consistently emphasized his health. He has often compared his physical state with that of his predecessor, Joe Biden, suggesting a decline in Biden’s health during his term. In various public addresses and on social media, Trump has maintained that he is in peak physical form.

Earlier this week, Trump rebuffed media scrutiny regarding his health on his Truth Social platform, denouncing such investigations as extreme and likening them to “sedition, maybe even treason.” This post underscored his frustration over what he perceives as unjust scrutiny of his health, especially in light of his active political engagements.

Supporting Trump’s assertions of good health, a thorough medical examination from October, which included an MRI and other standard tests, indicated that he remains in excellent condition with no significant medical concerns. The White House has utilized this assessment to dispel ongoing speculation and reinforce that the bandages on his hand do not signal any health issues.

By addressing the topic head-on, the White House strives to reassure both the public and the press that the president’s minor hand bruising is merely a typical outcome of his daily mingling and preventative health practices. Officials have reiterated that there is no cause for concern and that Trump is continuing his rigorous schedule while remaining healthy.
