Trump Calls for Israeli Restraint Amid Syrian Tensions Following Fatal Strike

Post by : Mina Rahman

US President Donald Trump has urged Israel to exercise caution in its actions that may destabilize Syria, after a tragic strike in the southern village of Beit Jin resulted in 13 fatalities. In a recent phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump extended an invitation for Netanyahu to visit the White House and highlighted the necessity of engaging in open discussions with Syria.

Trump praised the new Syrian leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, acknowledging the country's initiatives to rebuild after prolonged conflict and the potential for establishing fruitful relations with Israel. The two leaders explored the furtherance of regional peace agreements, underlining the urgent need to disarm Hamas and achieve stabilization in the Gaza Strip.

Even with recent ceasefire attempts, Israel remains committed to its operations against militant factions in neighboring territories, including the latest strikes against fighters affiliated with Hamas and its allies. Trump reiterated the United States' backing of Syria's recovery efforts and underscored the overarching goal of securing a lasting peace in the Middle East.

These talks take place in the context of rising regional tensions and the US administration's aim to bolster security cooperation between Israel and Syria to avert further conflict and aid the reconstruction of the war-affected region.
