Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum paid a visit to Al Barakah Dates Factory, recognized as the largest privately owned dates processing facility, situated within Dubai Industrial City.
Spanning over 800,000 square feet, the factory boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes, positioning it as a leader in the global date processing and packaging sector.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE's ambition to become a key global center for advanced food manufacturing. He emphasized the nation's commitment to innovation and enhancing the competitiveness of homegrown products.
He pointed out the dates industry as a prime example of the UAE’s evolution from agricultural tradition to a modern, high-value industry that plays a crucial role in boosting economic growth and food security.
Furthermore, Sheikh Mohammed noted ongoing investments in critical sectors like food production, aiming to increase efficiency, embrace cutting-edge technologies, and access international markets.
The dates sector is integral to the UAE’s cultural identity, and its development illustrates the nation’s vision for sustainable opportunities. He highlighted charitable initiatives aimed at combating malnutrition and enhancing global food security.
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed was Malek Al Malek, who received updates from the factory’s founder Saleem Mohammed, as well as Managing Director Yousuf Saleem Mohammed, regarding production processes, packaging methods, and the range of products offered.
The factory's products are exported to 97 countries, with significant markets including the US, UK, and Europe.
Established in 2004, Dubai Industrial City accommodates over 350 factories and employs more than 17,000 individuals. Its strategic proximity to critical logistics hubs such as Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport enhances operational efficiency.
This factory exemplifies a thriving venture within the food sector, with founder Saleem Mohammed commencing his journey in Dubai back in 1983 before delving into the dates trading and processing industry in the 1990s.
