The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has started a new initiative for people whose visit visas have expired. This allows them to extend their visas only for leaving the country.
The grace period will last for 30 days. It began on June 27, 2025 (1/1/1447 AH). People must pay the required fees and fines to get this extension. However, they will not face any punishment for staying longer than their visa period.
The Passports Department said that this step will make it easier to manage people’s travel and help everyone follow visa and residency rules properly.
If someone wants to use this grace period, they need to apply through the Tawasul service on the Ministry of Interior’s Absher e-services platform. They must do this within the given 30 days.
The department also requested all affected visitors to act quickly. This chance is only for a short time and will not be extended after the deadline.
