Rishi Negi outlines Salman Khan’s role, prep and pay talk on Bigg Boss 19

Salman Khan has fronted Bigg Boss for many seasons, turning the weekend instalments into a major draw that generates sustained public debate. Each season his Weekend Ka Vaar appearance reignites discussions about his conduct, alleged partiality and the reported sums linked to his role.

Rishi Negi, the producer representing Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India for Bigg Boss 19, has addressed these issues, offering a clearer account of how the host prepares and how compensation speculation should be viewed.

Salman Khan’s preparation for Weekend Ka Vaar

Negi said the perception that Salman arrives without context is misleading. According to him, the star reviews highlights of the week before going on stage, typically spending an hour or two on curated footage.

"He may not review every single episode, but he watches selected material with us," Negi stated. "We cover key incidents and interactions, and he also receives informal input from people who follow the show closely."

Weekend Ka Vaar is shaped collaboratively

Negi emphasised that the weekend episodes result from a collaborative editorial process. "He is well informed about developments in the house and takes an active position. We contribute our editorial judgement and factor in audience reactions. These inputs collectively shape the weekend show," he said.

‘Salman speaks from conviction, not a script’

Addressing claims that the production dictates Salman’s commentary, Negi rejected that narrative. He argued that those familiar with the actor know he will not voice a view he does not hold.

"He forms his own opinion on what is right or wrong," Negi said. "We discuss and debate before going live. You cannot compel Salman to say something he doesn’t believe in — that is not how he operates."

This explanation offers context for the strong reactions his hosting style often provokes: his responses, Negi suggests, stem from personal conviction rather than a producer-driven script.

The reality behind reported fees

Every season sees fresh headlines about the scale of Salman Khan’s remuneration, with some reports alleging figures in the hundreds of crores for Bigg Boss 19. When questioned on specific numbers, Negi declined to confirm details, citing confidentiality.

"That agreement is between him and JioCinema, so I don’t have access to those figures," he said. "Whatever the speculation, his presence contributes significantly to the show’s value. From my perspective, having him on the weekend is invaluable."

Negi’s response underscores the commercial and promotional connection between Salman’s star power and the programme’s success, while remaining non-committal on exact sums.

Emotional investment beyond performance

Negi also touched on Salman’s long-standing relationship with the show. Although the actor has periodically hinted at stepping away, Negi explained that Salman has developed a genuine emotional attachment to Bigg Boss and its participants.

"He demonstrates visible concern and engagement on stage — it’s not merely performance," Negi observed. "That emotional involvement gives the show a human dimension amid the conflict and controversy."

A distinct hosting tenure

Since assuming hosting duties, Salman Khan has reshaped expectations for the role, combining wit, authority and bluntness. That mixture attracts both approval and criticism, a balance that keeps the programme prominent in public conversation.

As Bigg Boss 19 continues to command attention online, Negi’s comments aim to clarify misunderstandings and reaffirm why Salman’s association remains central to the show’s appeal.
