Despite facing regional challenges, the State of Qatar remains committed to delivering critical humanitarian aid to numerous nations, handling transport difficulties and supply chain issues effectively.
Organizations such as Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have successfully executed their Ramadan relief initiatives, benefiting from strategic planning and collaboration with regional offices to ensure timely delivery of aid.
QRCS Secretary-General Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashim Al Sada highlighted the organization's experience and partnerships which facilitated their operations even under challenging circumstances. He mentioned that proactive planning prior to Ramadan allowed for the continuation of several relief projects across various regions.
Notably, despite setbacks, QRCS has maintained vital programs such as iftar meals for Lebanese communities and Eid clothing initiatives for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan. Some medical aid shipments to Sudan, however, experienced delays due to the ongoing conflict.
Challenges in delivering aid to Gaza have also arisen, with border restrictions hampering efforts and leaving some urgent needs unaddressed.
QRCS is currently operational in 12 countries, dynamically adjusting their programs in response to evolving circumstances. Projects are ongoing in Yemen, Gaza, Syria, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Niger, where stability prevails despite difficulties.
In Lebanon, deteriorating humanitarian conditions necessitated ongoing adaptations in aid delivery to directly address urgent needs.
Al Sada emphasized the strength of Qatar’s humanitarian efforts, highlighting collaboration between various organizations, including Qatar Charity, aimed at providing hope and assistance globally.
Simultaneously, Qatar Charity CEO Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari detailed that their Ramadan initiative, “Good Starts With You,” reached approximately 3.85 million people across 43 nations.
The initiative encompassed iftar meals, zakat al-fitr, clothing for Eid, as well as development projects in housing, water supply, mosque construction, and economic empowerment, prioritizing aid for refugees and displaced individuals including the Rohingya, Afghan, Somali, and Yemeni communities.
Medical services were also a focus during Ramadan, with campaigns addressing heart surgeries for children and eye treatments.
Al Kuwari attributed the efficacy of these programs to diligent preparation, effective field operations, and local partnerships. He noted the importance of leveraging local markets to support host economies.
Within Qatar, adaptations were made to provide iftar meals directly to workers rather than through large gatherings and the implementation of a smart electronic voucher system has helped assist low-income families while preserving their privacy.
Qatar Charity has initiated a rapid operational framework that enables immediate project launches upon securing funding, encompassing pre-identified sites, swift approvals, and advance beneficiary selections.
Nonetheless, Al Kuwari warned of escalating costs linked to ongoing regional conflicts, prompting the organization to strategize emergency plans, streamline logistics, and empower partnerships for future initiatives.
He drew attention to Lebanon's escalating tensions since March 2026, which have led to significant displacement and increased humanitarian demands. In response, Qatar Charity rolled out a $2.35 million emergency plan from March to May 2026.
This emergency plan encompasses food assistance, shelter interventions, water and sanitation provisions, medical supplies, and solar energy solutions for vital services.
In conclusion, Al Kuwari affirmed Qatar Charity’s readiness to monitor global circumstances and expand its efforts to provide dignified support and compassion to Mr underserved communities.
