The Health Department of Abu Dhabi has unveiled a new oral medication for obesity as part of its Personalised Weight Management Programme. This initiative, developed in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, aims to enhance access to progressive healthcare solutions.

Combining medical care, behavioral support, and ongoing digital monitoring, the programme is designed to assist individuals in effectively managing their weight. This holistic method prioritizes long-term health improvements and the overall well-being of participants.

The initial rollout will make this treatment available at the Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre. Participants will benefit from a detailed program that incorporates digital health monitoring and tailored clinical assistance.

This medication, known as Foundayo (orforglipron), falls under a category called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It emulates a natural hormone responsible for controlling appetite and food intake, facilitating more effective weight management.
