Croatian tennis sensation Petra Marcinko captured the prestigious Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge title after a solid victory over Russian player Vera Zvonareva, winning the match 6-3, 6-3 at the Habtoor Grand Resort. The promising athlete displayed remarkable skill and composure, achieving this significant win on Emirati soil. This accomplishment follows her recent triumph at the Fujairah W75 Championships, marking her second consecutive victory in the UAE.
At just 20 years old, Marcinko previously celebrated similar success in back-to-back tournaments in 2019 on the ITF Junior Circuit in Fujairah and Dubai. Remarkably, she is now the only player to have replicated this achievement at these venues. After sealing her victory, she was honored with the championship trophy by Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, the Chairman of the organizing committee, alongside senior officials from the UAE Tennis Federation, including Ahmed Abdul Malik and Nasser Al Marzooki.
Marcinko’s title win in Dubai adds to her impressive resume for the 2025 season, beginning the year with her first WTA 125 title at the ATV Tennis Open in Rome. She further solidified her prowess with two additional victories in the USA, triumphing at the Landisville Challenge and the Tyler Challenge later in the year.
This latest achievement at the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge enhances Marcinko's reputation as one of the brightest rising stars in women's tennis. Her impressive performance, unwavering confidence, and evident potential have garnered her international acclaim, making her a player to follow in forthcoming global competitions.
