Sheikh Hamdan Reviews the Near Completion of Jumeirah Beach 1 Project

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, inspected the Jumeirah Beach 1 redevelopment, a key project by Dubai Municipality focused on enhancing public beach infrastructure and waterfront experiences.

Accompanying him were His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Emirates Airline; His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai; and His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Urban Planning in Dubai.

His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, provided updates on the project status, indicating that construction is now over 95% complete. The redevelopment spans 1,400 metres and features modernized designs and new infrastructure.

Scheduled to welcome visitors in early February, the revamped beach will offer a comprehensive coastal experience featuring contemporary recreational facilities, family-friendly amenities, and designated tracks for walking, cycling, and jogging that foster active lifestyles in the community.

Sheikh Hamdan underlined Dubai's commitment to setting global standards in urban planning through sustainable and community-focused designs. He remarked that such infrastructure initiatives enhance community wellbeing, liveability, and resilience.

“Our goal is to establish a smart, future-focused city equipped with advanced infrastructures, premier public spaces, and beaches offering outstanding integrated services,” His Highness noted. “Public beaches are integral to Dubai's urban identity, reflecting our dedication to elevating the quality of life for all users.”

The Jumeirah Beach 1 project aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040, which focus on coastal development, accessibility, and sustainable transportation.

New facilities will include hygienic restrooms, showers, and changing areas, as well as specific zones for water activities, seasonal events, parking for vehicles and buses, and electric vehicle charging stations.

As a part of the smart beach initiative, advanced technologies like complimentary Wi-Fi, electronic displays, smart lockers, and AI-driven safety systems are integrated into the project.

Engineering efforts emphasize climate resilience, including the elevation and replenishment of the beach with 250,000 cubic metres of clean sand to combat rising sea levels and ensure long-term ecological stability.

Moreover, the development introduces over 15 investment opportunities in retail, dining, and beach services, bolstering economic growth and strengthening Dubai's tourism appeal.

The Jumeirah Beach 1 project embodies Dubai Municipality's vision of transforming public beaches into integrated urban spaces that boost community wellbeing and reinforce Dubai's standing as one of the world's premier cities for living, working, and visiting.
