The 55th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show is happening at Expo Centre Sharjah and is supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). This year, the Italian pavilion has become one of the biggest highlights of the event. For the first time, Italy revealed a special collection of handmade diamond and jewellery pieces in Sharjah. These rare pieces were designed by some of the most famous jewellery designers in Italy.
Many visitors, including global jewellery lovers, were very impressed by the collection. The Chairman of SCCI, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, visited the Italian pavilion along with other SCCI officials—Mohamed Rashid Ali Demas, H.E Ali Hilal Al Hazami, and Mona Sultan Al Suwaidi, who also manages the Emirati Goldsmiths platform.
During their visit, they looked at a wide variety of Italian jewellery. These included beautiful items made with pure diamonds, bright blue sapphires, eye-catching emeralds, and finely crafted 18-karat gold. The diamonds and gemstones used were of top quality.
This year, the Italian pavilion had about 50 brands on display, which is 15% more than last year. This makes Italy the largest international participant in this year’s show, which will end tomorrow, Sunday.
This growth shows that Italy’s jewellery industry is doing well globally. Italy is the third-largest jewellery supplier in the world and the top exporter from Europe to the UAE. In 2024 alone, Italy’s jewellery exports to the UAE crossed €1.22 billion.
Chairman Al Owais spoke about the strong business relationship between the UAE and Italy. He said that the growing number of Italian brands at the Sharjah show proves the UAE is a major trade center and a good place for global business. He also said that Italian companies feel confident doing business in Sharjah and the UAE.
The Italian jewellery brands shared that their designs for this year were made especially for the show. Each design was produced in very limited numbers—usually only two pieces of each style. This makes them very rare and special. All the jewellery was completely handmade, which adds to their value and uniqueness.
In February 2025, Italy exported jewellery worth €238 million to the UAE. This is 24% more than what they exported during the same time in 2024. Italy now holds a 5% share of the UAE’s jewellery import market. This shows that Italian jewellery remains popular and in high demand in the UAE because of its beautiful design and top-quality craftsmanship.
