Iran has issued a strong warning that any attack on the country will be considered a full-scale war. The warning comes as the United States sends an aircraft carrier strike group and other military assets to the Middle East in the coming days.
A senior Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the military buildup by the U.S. “is hopefully not intended for real confrontation,” but Iran is prepared for the worst-case scenario. “Everything is on high alert in Iran,” the official added.
“This time we will treat any attack—limited, unlimited, surgical, kinetic, whatever they call it—as an all-out war against us. We will respond in the hardest way possible to settle this,” the official said, emphasizing Iran’s readiness to defend itself.
The statement comes as U.S. President Donald Trump said that a “big force” of American warships is heading toward Iran. He added that he hopes military action will not be necessary while continuing to warn Tehran against harming protesters or resuming its nuclear program.
Iran did not give details about what a potential response might look like but stressed that any country under constant threat has the right to prepare and use all available resources to protect itself. “If the Americans violate Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, we will respond,” the official said.
The United States has previously increased its military presence in the region during periods of tension, often citing defensive measures. However, last year, the U.S. carried out a major buildup in the region ahead of its planned June strikes against Iran’s nuclear program.
The situation has raised international concern as both sides show signs of readiness for confrontation. Experts say careful diplomacy is crucial to prevent escalation and maintain regional stability.
As tensions continue, citizens and governments worldwide are watching closely to see if dialogue or diplomacy can prevent conflict, or if the warnings of an all-out war will lead to military action.
