The prestigious Fashion Awards returned to the Royal Albert Hall in London this evening, honoring the trailblazers influencing both British and international fashion. Founded in 1989 and managed by the British Fashion Council, this year's event marked the inaugural ceremony under new CEO Laura Weir, who assumed her role in January. Previously the creative director at Selfridges, Weir is already making significant changes with new scholarship and mentorship programs along with the abolition of London Fashion Week fees—reforms that have been met with enthusiasm from designers worldwide.
Hosted by actor Colman Domingo, the ceremony radiated nostalgia and excitement around the industry's bright future. While some winners were announced prior to the event—such as Anok Yai receiving Model of the Year and Little Simz honored with the Cultural Innovator Award—major victors were disclosed live during the gala.
The Designer of the Year awards recognized Rick Owens, Martine Rose, Willy Chavarria, Jonathan Anderson for Dior and JW Anderson, Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu, and Glenn Martens for Diesel and Maison Margiela. In the British womenswear category, accolades went to Simone Rocha, Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena-Irons of Chopova Lowena, Sarah Burton for Givenchy, Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault of KNWLS, plus Erdem Moralioğlu of Erdem. Men’s fashion winners featured Kiko Kostadinov, Craig Green, Nicholas Daley, Foday Dumbuya for Labrum London, Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt for Stefan Cooke, along with Grace Wales Bonner for Wales Bonner.
The Vanguard Award highlighted emerging creative talents such as Aaron Esh, Dilara Findokoğlu, Feben, Steve O Smith, Tolu Coker, and Torshéju Dumi for Torisheju. Other notable recognitions included Anok Yai as Model of the Year; Rei Kawakubo, Adrian Joffe, and Dickon Bowden receiving the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator; and special awards celebrating 15 years of the BFC Fashion Trust along with the contributions of Delphine Arnault. Brunello Cucinelli was lauded for outstanding achievements, while Lulu Kennedy and Raphaelle Moore were recognized for 25 years of Fashion East. Little Simz claimed the Cultural Innovator Award, and Sam Woolf received the Pandora Style Moment of the Year.
The event not only showcased the accomplishments of established designers and upcoming stars but also mirrored a vibrant resurgence in British fashion—one that is driven by innovation, inclusivity, and global partnerships.
