In a remarkable partnership, Emirates and Marriott International are set to establish Emirates Wolgan Valley, the first Ritz-Carlton Lodge in the world, in the breathtaking Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage region of Australia. Spanning a staggering 7,000-acre conservation area, this all-inclusive luxury lodge, featuring 40 lodges, is anticipated to open its doors in mid-2026, raising the standards for premium nature-based travel.
The lodge's footprint will be confined to less than 2% of the conservation reserve, ensuring an intimate connection with the surrounding environment. Visitors will encounter an array of unique flora and fauna, including the ancient Wollemi Pine, and wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats, and wallabies beneath some of the clearest night skies globally.
Since 2006, Emirates has committed AU$150 million towards the Wolgan Valley Resort, prioritizing the restoration of heritage and wildlife conservation through initiatives like the planting of over one million native trees. An additional AU$50 million is now earmarked for elevating the site into a Ritz-Carlton Lodge of international repute.
The luxurious lodge will boast 40 individual lodges each featuring private pools, along with amenities such as a signature dining venue, lounge bar, wine cellar, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, equestrian stables, fitness center, and The Ritz-Carlton Spa. A distinctive sleep-out experience will allow guests to immerse themselves in the wilderness for a night under the stars, coupled with guided outdoor dinners and campfires.
Access will be exclusive through four-wheel drive vehicles via Donkey Steps or via helicopter, enhancing the adventure aspect of the stay. The lodge is projected to generate approximately 150 local jobs and support regional suppliers, contributing positively to the local economy.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, emphasized that this lodge exemplifies the airline’s dedication to luxury travel and community engagement. Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific, remarked that this lodge represents Ritz-Carlton's grand entry into the lodge realm, catering to affluent travelers seeking deep, nature-inspired experiences.
This lodge will enhance Ritz-Carlton's existing portfolio in Perth and Melbourne, solidifying Australia’s reputation as a premier luxury travel destination.
