The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has unveiled significant details about its initiative dubbed “Winter Ghiras 2025,” themed “Planting Values, Illuminating the Future.” This program specifically targets girls aged 7 to 16 and will take place from December 8 to 18, 2025, across seven select locations in Dubai.
As part of their strategic vision named “Closer to the Community,” the initiative aims to broaden educational outreach and enhance community engagement throughout the emirate. This year's Winter Ghiras is presented in a fresh and innovative format, celebrating the UAE's rich cultural identity while resonating with the warm sense of community found during the winter season.
With this initiative, Dubai Islamic Affairs aspires to cultivate a positive mindset, strong values, and practical life skills in the younger generation, all while cherishing the winter experience. The program seamlessly integrates education with entertainment and hands-on participation, ensuring that lessons in religious awareness and genuine Islamic principles are effectively delivered through modern, captivating methods.
Official statistics indicate that the initiative has reached over 763 participants, facilitated by 43 qualified educators and supported by 64 committed volunteers. The program consisted of 29 educational classes hosting 188 interactive workshops, accumulating a total of 497 instructional hours. This structured and well-thought-out approach emphasizes the Department's dedication to offering high-quality educational content and impactful community service.
Ms. Sheikha Sultan Al Marri, who heads the Islamic Knowledge Programs Department and oversees Winter Ghiras, remarked that these positive outcomes highlight the community’s assurance in the program. She expressed that the initiative aims to elevate religious understanding, improve behavior, and instill faith-based values using modern educational strategies that yield tangible and enduring results.
Furthermore, Ms. Al Marri noted that Winter Ghiras exemplifies a seasonal educational model that harmoniously merges educational goals with volunteer engagement during school breaks, aligning with the UAE leadership’s vision of nurturing knowledgeable and values-oriented generations.
