Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has teamed up with Keolis MHI and Future Maintenance Technologies (FMT) to launch an advanced AI-driven robotic system called ARIIS. This system will inspect the Dubai Metro tracks and other important parts of the metro automatically.
ARIIS is an important step forward in improving how Dubai Metro is maintained. It fits perfectly with Dubai's goal of becoming a leader in AI technology and building sustainable infrastructure.
The ARIIS system uses special tools like LiDAR sensors, lasers, and 3D cameras to check the rail tracks and other critical parts of the metro system. The best part is that it works without disturbing the normal metro services.
This new system shows how committed Dubai Metro is to keeping its services safe, efficient, and reliable. It also supports the city's plans to become a "Smart City" with the help of technology.
Abdul Mohsin Kalbat, the CEO of RTA Rail Agency, said, “Dubai is proud to lead with smart solutions that make Dubai Metro even more reliable and efficient. ARIIS is another big step in making our Metro one of the safest and most advanced public transport networks in the world.”
ARIIS works by collecting real-time data that helps the team make smart decisions about maintenance. The system will help save 40% of resources and reduce unnecessary inspections.
David Franks, the managing director of Keolis MHI, shared that ARIIS is a major breakthrough. It will help improve safety, speed up maintenance work, and give the team the right data to make better decisions. It’s a game-changer for managing rail infrastructure in Dubai.
With ARIIS, the need for manual inspections will drop by 70%, and the ability to assess the condition of the tracks will improve by 40%. This means more frequent checks and better reliability without slowing down the service. For example, ARIIS can save a lot of time, cutting down the need for 2,400 man-hours to just 700 man-hours.
ARIIS also helps predict when maintenance is needed, which can make the tracks last longer and save up to 25% on maintenance costs.
Loic Ayoul, the CEO of FMT, said, “RTA and Keolis MHI are showing great vision by using AI and robots to make Dubai Metro’s rail system safer, more efficient, and sustainable.”
This new system, ARIIS, is an important step in the future of Dubai Metro, ensuring it stays modern, safe, and sustainable for years to come.
