Dubai Media City, recognized as the foremost media and content creation hub in the Middle East, proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary, showcasing its commitment to fostering innovation in the creative sectors.
A key member of TECOM Group's diverse business districts, Dubai Media City has played a vital role in positioning Dubai as a premier global media destination, attracting talent, investments, and fostering groundbreaking innovations. Its inception aimed to promote Dubai as a comprehensive Arab media center, with cutting-edge infrastructure designed to cultivate industry expansion.
The establishment of Dubai Media City laid the groundwork for the TECOM Group's expansive Media Cluster, which also encompasses Dubai Production City and Dubai Studio City. Collectively, this cluster supports over 40,000 creative professionals and is home to more than 60% of Fortune 500 media enterprises. It is a vital base for television and radio networks, social media outlets, and content creators producing content in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, German, Hindi, Chinese, and Tagalog.
Majed Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City, and Dubai Studio City, remarked, “Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Media City has consistently attracted international media frontrunners over the past 25 years, reinforcing the nation’s innovation and knowledge-driven economy.”
Catalyzing Content Creation
The district has successfully drawn leading media organizations such as CNN, Discovery Networks, WPP, and Publicis Groupe, alongside prominent regional companies like ITP Media Group and OSN Group. Its impact was recognized as Dubai earned the title of the Capital of Arab Media in both 2020 and 2021.
In 2024, Dubai was recognized as the top global destination for Greenfield FDI in the cultural and creative sectors for the third year running, securing 971 projects, generating AED 18.86 billion in investments, and leading to the creation of 23,517 new jobs.
Supporting Emerging Talent
Dubai Media City champions talent development initiatives like the Emirati Media Talent Pledge and hosts the UAE Ministry of Economy & Tourism’s InstaBlock Lab, which safeguards intellectual property. It actively engages industry professionals through events like Creative Brunch and collaborates with Dubai Lynx, the leading creative festival in the MENA region.
Encouraging Innovation
The district fosters startup growth through in5 Media, a pivotal segment of Dubai’s foremost incubator, in5. Since its inception in 2013, in5 has supported over 1,100 startups, attracting AED 9 billion in funding. The incubator offers an array of resources including creative workspaces, training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Moreover, D/Quarters, a collaborative workspace within Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, caters to freelancers and companies with its advanced, adaptable work environments.
As part of TECOM Group’s diverse business districts, Dubai Media City remains a cornerstone in propelling Dubai's creative economy and solidifying its lead as a global media epicenter.
