Dream Theater to Mark 40 Years with Dubai Concert Celebrating Parasomnia

Post by : Mina Rahman

Progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater will play Dubai as part of a milestone celebration in their four-decade career. The band’s classic lineup—James LaBrie (vocals), John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Jordan Rudess (keyboards) and Mike Portnoy (drums)—are scheduled to perform an extended three-hour programme with a dedicated interlude that highlights the technical skill and compositional breadth that define their work.

Across more than 40 years, Dream Theater have earned multiple Grammy nominations, secured the 2022 Grammy for Best Metal Performance and sold in excess of 15 million records worldwide. Their complex arrangements and virtuosic live shows have established a committed international following.

The Dubai engagement aligns with the release of their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia, the first record the classic five-piece have made together since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. The 71-minute release includes tracks such as Night Terror, A Broken Man and Dead Asleep, capped by the 19-minute suite The Shadow Man Incident.

Guitarist John Petrucci said the band intends to mark the 40th anniversary, spotlight the new material and celebrate Mike Portnoy's return, calling the evening a major musical event and expressing eagerness to perform for regional fans.

Pre-sales open on November 7 at 8:30am, with general tickets available from November 10 at 8:30am. Prices are listed from AED 225 to AED 575. Dream Theater last visited Dubai in October 2017 during their 25th-anniversary tour, and organisers say the upcoming concert aims to deliver another memorable night for local and travelling fans.
