DIEZ and VOLT Join Forces for AI Data Centre in Dubai Silicon Oasis

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

DIEZ and VOLT UAE have unveiled a collaborative initiative to establish an advanced AI-ready data centre located in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). This venture is aimed at elevating Dubai's status as a key player in the global digital technology and artificial intelligence sectors.

The announcement was attended by notable figures, including Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ; Han de Groot, CEO of VOLT; Koenraad Crooijmans from VOLT; and Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Cluster at Schneider Electric.

Spanning a remarkable 60,000 square metres, the facility will be constructed in two phases. The initial phase aims to deliver 29 MW of operational capacity, with plans for an additional 100 MW in the subsequent phase.

Designed to accommodate cutting-edge AI and high-performance computing, the data centre will boast robust infrastructure, reinforced design, redundant systems, and high-security protocols to guarantee uninterrupted operations and optimal reliability.

In line with the agreement, DIEZ will contribute land and essential infrastructure for the project, while VOLT UAE will oversee development, financing, construction, leasing, and management of the centre.

Schneider Electric, headquartered in Dubai Silicon Oasis, will deliver sophisticated electrical systems, smart infrastructure, and power distribution solutions to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the data centre.

Officials noted that this project aligns with Dubai's D33 economic agenda and bolsters the AED 11 billion District IO development, which is focused on pioneering technologies, innovation, and research in the region.

DIEZ emphasized that this partnership showcases strong global investor confidence in Dubai's digital landscape and its forward-thinking economic strategy.

VOLT UAE referred to the facility as an "AI factory" designed to transform energy into computing power, fostering large-scale AI development.

Schneider Electric remarked that this initiative will set new benchmarks for AI-ready data centres through its comprehensive solutions encompassing power systems, cooling, and monitoring technologies.

This project underscores Dubai's dedication to fostering exceptional digital infrastructure to meet the escalating demands for artificial intelligence and advanced computing in the area.
