After a 15-day run, Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror-comedy Thamma has accumulated a domestic total of Rs 123.80 crore, but the film is experiencing a noticeable slowdown in box office momentum.
On Tuesday the film added around Rs 2 crore to its tally, marginally up from Monday amid discounted tickets and weekday audience traffic. The extended opening week produced Rs 108.4 crore, signalling strong early interest. Thamma opened as the second-biggest launch within Maddock Films’ horror-comedy slate, behind Stree 2, and marked the largest opening weekend of Ayushmann Khurrana’s career, eclipsing the Rs 10.69 crore start of DreamGirl 2.
Thamma sustained double-digit daily takings through day six, helped by favourable word-of-mouth and holiday crowds. Following the festival period, however, daily collections tapered sharply — a common trend once initial audience curiosity fades. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh observed that the film “remained super-steady,” noting the typical Friday working-day impact on daytime shows, recovery in evening performances and a pronounced jump in the South market.
Reviewer Saibal Chatterjee commended the leads’ comic-horror chemistry, writing that the principal actors use their prosthetic Dracula teeth as expressively as their eyes, with Rashmika Mandanna earning particular praise for her display of range.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma features Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles, supported by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film connects to Maddock Films’ existing horror-comedy universe that includes Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya.
Despite the second-week dip, Thamma remains a significant entry in the Maddock horror-comedy lineup, noted for its performances and its blend of humour and scares.
