The Arab Parliament has welcomed the signing of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, calling it a major step towards ending months of intense bloodshed and restoring hope for long-term peace in the region. The truce, reached after several days of intense negotiations, brings cautious optimism to an area battered by conflict and humanitarian crises.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, described the ceasefire as a victory for reason, dialogue, and humanitarian values. He praised the tireless efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, whose diplomatic interventions were instrumental in bridging differences between the conflicting parties and bringing them to the negotiation table.
Al Yamahi also highlighted the support of the United States, noting President Donald Trump’s involvement in facilitating dialogue and promoting regional stability. He said the ceasefire now opens the door for broader initiatives aimed at rebuilding Gaza and delivering much-needed aid to civilians who have endured months of hardship and violence.
While welcoming the ceasefire, Al Yamahi stressed that all parties must strictly adhere to its terms to prevent any escalation. He called on the international community to ensure accountability and to press Israel to stop actions that violate international law, including settlement expansion, settler violence, and restrictions on Palestinian funds.
The Arab Parliament reiterated its strong support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination. Officials emphasized that the ceasefire should do more than stop immediate hostilities—it should also kickstart the process of rebuilding trust, restoring essential services, and offering hope for a just and lasting peace in Gaza.
The agreement marks a turning point in the conflict, reflecting the importance of diplomacy, international cooperation, and regional partnerships in resolving longstanding crises. As humanitarian aid begins to reach affected areas and reconstruction plans are discussed, the focus will shift to ensuring the safety, stability, and recovery of civilians in Gaza.
The Arab Parliament also called on neighboring countries and international organizations to actively support Gaza in this post-ceasefire phase, ensuring that the truce translates into concrete improvements in the lives of residents and sets the stage for a sustainable peace process.
