Seasoned actor Anupam Kher offered his greetings on Guru Nanak Jayanti on Wednesday, November 5. The 70-year-old visited Amritsar's Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) to pay tribute on the 556th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth.
Posting a short video on social media, Kher wrote: “Best wishes and congratulations to all of you on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birth anniversary! Happy Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti to all.”
Guru Nanak Jayanti marks the birth of the 15th-century founder of Sikhism and is observed with prayers, processions and community kitchens known as ‘langars’. The day underscores Guru Nanak’s teachings of selfless service, equality and devotion to one God. It is a public holiday in several states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Separately, Kher recently extended birthday wishes to Shah Rukh Khan on his 60th, recreating the actor's Mohabbatein look while praising his enduring dynamism. Shah Rukh responded appreciatively, recalling shared moments; Kher has often portrayed father figures to Khan in films such as Veer-Zaara, Mohabbatein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
