Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi held a remarkable second activation of its “Where Life Pulses” initiative in Zakher District, Al Ain, drawing more than 6,000 attendees and showcasing the significance of community involvement and family engagement.

Taking place in Zakher Park, the initiative sought to empower youth and children, transforming residential areas into lively social hubs. Families, emerging entrepreneurs, governmental representatives, and local citizens came together for an enriching day filled with educational, cultural, and entertainment pursuits.

Notable officials were present, including His Excellency Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Secretary General of Erth Zayed Philanthropies, among others from partnering organizations.

Attendees engaged in diverse activities such as youth-led business ventures, interactive games, live shows, culinary experiences, and creative workshops. The event featured over 12 workshops offering activities like coffee painting, canvas art, bracelet making, clay modelling, origami, and tote bag painting.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi contributed to the event through the Proud of the UAE initiative, presenting workshops related to Arabic calligraphy, traditional crafts, decoupage, and artistic endeavors inspired by nature. This program aimed to enhance national identity, heritage, and Emirati values within the community.

Entertainment options included bubble shows, face painting, balloon arts, and engaging family-friendly games like Jenga, hopscotch, and labyrinth challenges, promoting community bonding and family interactions.

Fatema Abdulrahman Al Hosani, Director of Social Cohesion at the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, remarked that the strong visitor turnout highlighted the initiative's success in fostering robust family and social connections. She noted that the program grants youth a platform to present their entrepreneurial ideas and solidify their ties to Emirati customs and heritage.

The success of this Zakher activation was made possible by collaborative efforts with various Abu Dhabi government agencies. The Department of Municipalities and Transport and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge promoted community and student involvement, while the Department of Economic Development offered licensing assistance to young entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority played a role by integrating beneficiaries into entrepreneurial initiatives.

Support for this initiative came from the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, along with strategic sponsorship from Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC) and contributions from several partners. The event also served as a platform for the Madeem initiative and the Emirati Family Growth Program.

The Department of Community Development announced that the “Where Life Pulses” initiative will continue across various residential districts in Abu Dhabi until 2026, with forthcoming events tailored to the identities and interests of local residents to encourage broader community engagement.
