Nico was taken to the hospital with severe injuries to both of his legs. Doctors tried to save him, but he later died due to the seriousness of his wounds. After the attack, authorities closed many beaches in Sydney and nearby areas. These closures followed several shark incidents reported along Australia’s east coast within a short time. Officials explained that recent heavy rainfall had made the water unclear, which can increase the chances of sharks coming closer to shore.

Although shark attacks often receive wide attention, experts note that they are uncommon. Australia usually records about 20 shark attacks each year, with only a few resulting in death. In comparison, many more people lose their lives each year due to drowning.
