Delivery Dispute in Alberta Leads to Assault and Firearm Threats

Post by : Mina Rahman

In a shocking turn of events, a standard appliance delivery in central Alberta escalated into a violent encounter due to a miscommunication regarding the delivery address, leaving the driver traumatized and a local man in legal trouble.

On December 4, the delivery driver, assigned to deliver a refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer, mistakenly arrived at the wrong location near Sundre. After recognizing the error, he parked safely and reached out to the customer for clarification on the correct address.

The customer then arrived with an alternative address. The driver explained that changes to delivery locations cannot be made on-the-fly and must follow proper procedures. This response seemingly infuriated the customer, quickly escalating tensions.

According to law enforcement, the customer forcibly opened the delivery truck door, striking the driver multiple times. Matters worsened when the assailant returned to his vehicle, fetched a long firearm, and reportedly threatened to kill the driver unless the appliances were delivered to the newly requested address.

Concerned for his safety, the driver managed to flee the scene in his truck. Fortunately, authorities later confirmed that he escaped without serious injuries.

Police apprehended a 31-year-old resident of Sundre at his residence later that same day. Upon searching the property, officers discovered 16 firearms alongside a significant cache of ammunition.

The suspect now faces a total of 14 charges, which include assault, making threats, and firearm-related extortion. The investigation is ongoing, with police highlighting the gravity of using weapons for intimidation, especially during commonplace customer service interactions.
