The United States has started pulling some personnel from its largest military base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, due to rising tensions with Iran. This step comes after Tehran warned that it could take action against U.S. forces if Washington intervenes in response to deadly protests in Iran.
Al Udeid hosts thousands of U.S. military members and serves as the forward headquarters for American operations across the Middle East. Officials have described the reduction as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of staff amid growing risks.
Some personnel were advised to leave the base, but the number affected or whether the departures were voluntary has not been publicly shared. Qatar confirmed the move, citing concerns over current regional tensions and emphasizing that it is meant to protect personnel and infrastructure.
