Russia launched one of its largest coordinated air attacks on Ukraine, firing a mix of attack drones, cruise missiles, and hypersonic weapons at multiple targets across the country. Ukrainian officials said the assault targeted key infrastructure, energy facilities, and military-related sites, leading to damage in several regions.
Air raid sirens sounded for hours as Ukrainian air defense systems worked to intercept incoming threats. Authorities reported that many drones and missiles were shot down, but some strikes reached their targets, causing power disruptions, fires, and damage to residential areas. Emergency crews were deployed to affected locations to rescue civilians and assess losses.
The use of hypersonic weapons raised serious concern. These missiles travel at extremely high speeds and are difficult to intercept, increasing the risk of heavy destruction. Military analysts say their deployment signals Moscow’s intent to apply greater pressure as the conflict continues.
Ukrainian leaders condemned the attack, calling it another attempt to weaken civilian morale and strain the country’s infrastructure. They renewed appeals for more advanced air defense systems from Western allies to protect cities and critical facilities.
The barrage comes amid ongoing fighting along the front lines and stalled diplomatic efforts. With no immediate signs of de-escalation, the latest assault has deepened fears of a prolonged and more dangerous phase of the war, leaving civilians once again facing the brunt of the conflict.
