Russia launched another large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, causing serious damage to residential buildings and forcing emergency rescue teams to work through the night searching for survivors.
Air raid sirens echoed across Kyiv as explosions were reported in several districts of the city. Ukrainian officials said the assault involved a combination of missiles and attack drones aimed at different targets, including civilian areas and infrastructure facilities.
Several apartment buildings suffered heavy structural damage during the strikes. In some locations, windows were blown out, walls collapsed, and fires broke out after debris fell onto residential neighborhoods. Rescue workers, firefighters, and medical teams rushed to the affected areas to evacuate residents and assist the injured.
Authorities confirmed that emergency operations were continuing as crews searched through rubble for trapped civilians. Residents described scenes of panic as families fled buildings during the overnight bombardment. Temporary shelters were opened in some districts for people forced to leave damaged homes.
Ukrainian officials strongly condemned the attacks, accusing Russia of deliberately targeting populated areas. Kyiv city authorities urged residents to remain alert as air defense systems continued operating against incoming threats.
Military experts say Russia has increasingly relied on combined missile and drone attacks designed to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense network. The latest strikes are part of a wider pattern of intensified aerial assaults seen in recent months as the conflict continues with no clear end in sight.
The attacks also caused damage to roads, vehicles, and nearby public infrastructure. Power disruptions were reported in certain neighborhoods while emergency crews worked to restore essential services.
International observers continue to express concern about the growing humanitarian impact of attacks on urban residential areas. Global leaders and aid organizations have repeatedly called for civilian protection and renewed diplomatic efforts to reduce violence in the region.
As rescue operations continue in Kyiv, officials are still assessing the full scale of the destruction and the number of casualties caused by the latest wave of strikes.
