Protests erupted across Pakistan after police detained several supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Demonstrations were reported in major cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar, as party workers and supporters gathered to protest the arrests.
According to police officials, the detentions were made to prevent unrest and maintain law and order. Authorities said some gatherings were not permitted and could have led to disruptions. In response, security forces were deployed in sensitive areas, and roadblocks were set up in parts of major cities.
PTI leaders strongly criticized the government, calling the arrests politically motivated. They accused authorities of trying to silence opposition voices and suppress peaceful protest. Party officials said supporters were exercising their democratic right to protest and demanded the immediate release of those detained.
Protesters chanted slogans in support of Imran Khan and held party flags, while traffic disruptions were reported in some areas. In a few locations, clashes occurred between protesters and police, though no major injuries were officially confirmed.
