A residential building in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, partially collapsed following a powerful Russian missile and drone strike during a major overnight attack on the city. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as residents were trapped under the rubble of the damaged structure.
According to Ukrainian officials, explosions were heard across several districts of Kyiv as air raid sirens sounded for hours. The attack reportedly involved a combination of missiles and drones targeting different parts of the city. Rescue workers worked through the night searching for survivors and helping injured residents escape from the destroyed building.
Authorities said dozens of people were rescued from the collapsed apartment block located in the Darnytskyi district. Several civilians were injured, while reports confirmed deaths following the attack. Damage was also reported to nearby homes, vehicles, and civilian infrastructure in multiple areas of Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strikes and described them as part of one of the heaviest aerial assaults since the conflict began. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said emergency responders continued clearing debris while searching for missing residents.
Military analysts say Russia has recently intensified large-scale drone and missile operations aimed at overwhelming Ukraine’s air defense systems. Reports indicated that hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles were launched across Ukraine within a short period, targeting both infrastructure and residential zones.
The latest attack has once again raised global concern over civilian safety and the humanitarian impact of the ongoing war. International leaders and organizations continue calling for diplomatic efforts to reduce violence and protect civilians caught in the conflict.
As rescue operations continue in Kyiv, many families remain displaced while authorities assess the full scale of destruction caused by the strike. The incident adds to the growing list of attacks on residential areas since the war began, increasing fears of further escalation in the region.
