Internet and Power Shut Down as Protesters Light Up Streets in Open Defiance

Post by : Saif Nasser

Tensions rose sharply as large-scale protests erupted, leading authorities to shut down internet services and cut electricity in several areas. The moves were aimed at controlling the spread of information and slowing the growing unrest, but protesters continued to gather in large numbers despite the restrictions.

With communication networks down, streets were lit by fires as demonstrators burned tires and debris. Crowds chanted slogans, blocked roads, and marched through neighborhoods in open defiance. The shutdowns created confusion for residents, many of whom were unable to contact family members or access emergency services.

Security forces were deployed to contain the protests, setting up checkpoints and increasing patrols. In some places, clashes were reported as officers attempted to disperse crowds. Protesters said the blackouts only strengthened their resolve, viewing the measures as a sign of fear rather than control.

Local businesses were forced to close early, and daily life came to a standstill in affected areas. Hospitals and essential services relied on backup power as the situation remained tense.

As protests continued into the night, uncertainty grew over how long the shutdowns would last and what the next steps would be. The events highlighted the deep divide between authorities and citizens, as well as the heavy impact such measures can have on ordinary people caught in the middle.
