The UAE Year of Community 2025 has reached a triumphant conclusion, having successfully inspired residents to cultivate a cohesive, engaged, and progressive society. Under the theme “Hand in Hand,” the year aimed at enhancing unity, growth, and generosity throughout the nation.
A diverse array of national institutions, local artists, and community members united over the year to fortify the social network of the UAE. These collaborations yielded meaningful experiences, illustrating how partnership can enrich community strength.
Rauda Al Falasi, Project Lead for the Year of Community, acknowledged the nation’s unique yet unified population: “The UAE is enriched by all who reside here, bound by common values and goals. Active contributions and shared responsibilities were evident across communities, propelling progress through collaboration.”
A significant campaign, “Who’s the ‘بــ’ in Your Life?”, motivated individuals to honor those who inspire and support local communities. Personal narratives, such as Ola Allouz recognizing her twin sister as a guiding influence, and Aysha Khalfan celebrating Sheikh Zayed’s legacy of unity, revealed the deep connections among people in the UAE.
The Year also paid tribute to exceptional individuals in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Awards, recognizing contributors like Dr. Fatima Al Refaei in nursing education, Abdul Muqeet Abdul Mannan for sustainability, and HE Klaithem Obaid Al Matrooshi for promoting inclusion for People of Determination.
Volunteering efforts flourished through initiatives like the “7 Volunteering Opportunities in 7 Emirates” campaign, spearheaded by Emirates Foundation, which enhanced community involvement and celebrated volunteer leaders nationwide.
Artistic collaborations vividly illustrated community values, with MAKE Abu Dhabi encouraging creative expression and Cinema Akil hosting film events that brought families and storytellers together. The “We Archive” initiative documented the rich tapestry of neighborhood stories, preserving cultural heritage through visual storytelling.
In celebration of community creativity, the Emirati Birthday Song project invited nationwide contributions, merging music with cultural identity. Additionally, local creators produced sustainable goods inspired by Emirati legacies, deepening public connections to cultural heritage.
Engagement with the youth was prioritized through the forthcoming “UAE Craft: Community Edition” game, aimed at children aged 6 to 12. This fun, interactive educational game promotes teamwork while fostering appreciation for the UAE’s natural and cultural diversity.
Community engagement continued to thrive both online and offline through the Community Impact Tracker, which documented over 350 initiatives across education, culture, health, environment, and heritage, showcasing the nation’s dedication to social responsibility.
As the UAE Year of Community 2025 draws to a close, it leaves behind a vital legacy of unity, shared growth, and generosity—laying a solid foundation for a vibrant, inclusive future for all.
The annual UAE Year of initiatives persistently fosters national values by promoting active participation and a sense of belonging, demonstrating that community is a continuous, evolving commitment to caring and responsibility.
