The United Arab Emirates ushered in the New Year 2026 with stunning celebrations that showcased magnificent fireworks and a groundbreaking drone display spanning various emirates. The festivities included ambitious efforts to secure multiple Guinness World Records, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to innovation and grandeur.
A highlight of the evening was an extraordinary drone performance that featured around 6,500 drones over a captivating 20-minute show. This synchronized display, set to music and punctuated by fireworks, aimed for the record of the “largest aerial display of a phoenix” as the countdown to 2026 began, mesmerizing audiences and solidifying the UAE’s stature in hosting world-class New Year celebrations.
In Ras Al Khaimah, the emirate achieved a Guinness World Records title for the most impressive aerial phoenix formation created by multirotor drones. The 15-minute spectacle gracefully spanned the coast, from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra Island, continuing the region’s legacy of magnificent year-end events.
Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba played a key role in the New Year’s Eve celebrations, where organizers aimed for five Guinness World Records throughout the night. The festivities kicked off at 8:00 pm and culminated in an astounding 62-minute fireworks display that lit up the night sky into the early hours.
In Dubai, celebrations were widespread with 48 distinct fireworks shows at 40 prominent sites, including iconic landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, Global Village, Expo City Dubai, and Hatta.
Sharjah contributed to the overall celebration with synchronized 10-minute fireworks displays at locations like Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Heera Beach, and Khorfakkan Beach, enriching the vibrant atmosphere of the New Year across the UAE.
These grand displays and record-setting endeavors reflect the UAE’s dedication to cultural excellence and innovation, setting an exhilarating tone for the year ahead.
