New Brunswick Man Faces Charges in Stabbing Incident on Durham Avenue

Post by : Mina Rahman

In a concerning turn of events, Peter Fragoso, a 29-year-old resident of New Brunswick, has been charged with attempted murder after a serious stabbing incident on December 3 at a residence on Durham Avenue. Currently held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center, Fragoso faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, two counts related to weapons possession, and criminal obstruction.

The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on December 3, involved the stabbing of a 23-year-old man from Long Branch. Responding officers discovered the victim inside the home with significant stab wounds, and he was promptly rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for critical medical attention. His injuries have been classified as serious, though updates on his health status remain undisclosed.

Detectives Robert Ring from the borough police and Stephanie Redline from Middlesex County spearheaded the investigation, during which Fragoso was identified as the suspect. He was arrested on December 4 and is scheduled for arraignment at the state Superior Court on December 12.

Authorities are urging anyone with information relating to this incident to reach out. Detective Ring can be contacted at (732) 632-8501, and Detective Redline at (732) 745-3316. The community's cooperation is deemed crucial in ensuring that justice prevails and that the case receives the attention it warrants.

It is important to note that Fragoso, like all accused individuals, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The nature of the charges is severe, and the judicial process will thoroughly assess the evidence presented.

This incident has sparked unease in the local community, as violent occurrences are uncommon in these residential neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement to maintain safety.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, with police committing to provide the public with updates as more information surfaces.
