Palestine Issue Called Humanitarian Crisis Not Religious

Post by :

The Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, has said that the Palestine issue should not be seen as a fight between Muslims and Jews. Instead, he explained, it is a humanitarian crisis and an issue of international law that affects human rights and peace across the world.

He spoke about this during the “Gaza Solidarity Conference” in Kochi, where he was invited as the chief guest. The event was attended by people who came together to show their support for Palestine and the people of Gaza.

In his speech, Mr. Shawesh made it clear that the conflict is not about religion. He explained that the matter is not between Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. Instead, it is about the occupation of Palestinian land by Zionists. He reminded the audience that Palestine has always welcomed people of different religions and cultures. To prove this, he shared that the first government formed under the leadership of the late Yasser Arafat had even included a Jewish minister, showing how Palestinians have always believed in diversity and inclusiveness.

The Ambassador highlighted that the real issue is the loss of Palestinian homes, land, and freedom. Families have been displaced, children have lost their childhood, and ordinary people continue to suffer because of decades of conflict. He stressed that the occupation of Palestinian land by Zionist groups goes against international law and the principles of justice.

He also said that the world should see this not just as a regional issue, but as a global humanitarian concern. People in Gaza and other occupied areas live under blockades, with limited access to basic needs such as food, water, electricity, and healthcare. According to him, this should matter to every human being, regardless of religion or nationality, because it is about the rights of people to live freely and with dignity.

The Ambassador’s words struck a strong chord with the audience, who showed their support and solidarity for Palestine. He reminded everyone that history should not be rewritten as a religious war, because that misleads people. Instead, the truth is simple: it is about the illegal occupation of land, the denial of human rights, and the suffering of millions of people.

He further explained that framing the issue as a “Muslim vs Jew” fight is a narrative that benefits Zionist propaganda, because it divides people based on religion. By making the world believe it is a religious clash, the real humanitarian crisis is hidden. But when seen through the lens of justice and humanity, the picture becomes clear — Palestinians are demanding their rightful land and freedom, not a war with another religion.

The Ambassador also appreciated the solidarity shown by people in India and said that global voices matter. According to him, international support and awareness can put pressure on those who hold power to ensure justice for Palestinians. He reminded that silence is dangerous because it allows injustice to continue.

The conference ended with a call for unity and peace, with participants stressing the need for more awareness campaigns and international support for the Palestinian people.

This message from the Palestinian envoy is a reminder that the situation is bigger than religious differences. It is about human rights, dignity, justice, and the need for peace in one of the world’s most troubled regions. The Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah M.
