Kantara Chapter 1 In ₹500 Crore, Surpasses Brahmastra Hit

Post by : Raman

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is continuing its impressive run at the box office, with worldwide collections now approaching the ₹500 crore mark. The Kannada period drama has captivated audiences across India and internationally, surpassing the lifetime earnings of major films like Brahmastra Part One (₹431 crore) and 3 Idiots (₹450 crore).

The film has performed exceptionally well domestically. On Wednesday, its seventh day in theatres, it earned ₹25 crore net, bringing the total domestic collection to ₹316 crore net (₹379 crore gross). The Hindi-dubbed version has crossed ₹100 crore net, while the Kannada original is right behind with ₹99 crore. The Telugu version has earned over ₹60 crore net, and the Malayalam and Tamil versions have also performed strongly, each collecting more than ₹20 crore. This makes Kantara Chapter 1 a true pan-India success story.

Internationally, the film has grossed over $8 million. While daily overseas earnings are currently under $1 million, the film continues to show strong legs, with expectations of steady revenue during its second weekend. Worldwide, the total collection has reached ₹451 crore, and industry experts predict it will surpass ₹500 crore in the coming days.

Kantara Chapter 1 is directed and written by Rishab Shetty, who also stars in the film alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in key roles. The story is set a thousand years before the events of Kantara, serving as a prequel and setting the stage for the highly anticipated Kantara Chapter 2.

The film’s success is not just about numbers—it has connected with audiences through its compelling storytelling, strong performances, and visually striking period drama elements. Its pan-India reach demonstrates the growing influence of regional films in the Indian and international markets, including in the Middle East where Indian cinema enjoys a significant fan base.

As Kantara Chapter 1 edges closer to ₹500 crore worldwide, it has firmly established itself among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The movie’s performance reflects a combination of strong domestic support, successful dubbed versions in multiple languages, and growing international interest, particularly in the Gulf countries where audiences are increasingly appreciating Indian cinema beyond Bollywood.

With the upcoming release of Kantara Chapter 2, fans in India and the Middle East are eagerly awaiting to see how the saga continues, making Kantara Chapter 1 not only a box office phenomenon but also a cultural event that resonates across regions and languages.
