The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), collaborating with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’aan, has launched applications for the 2026 Abu Dhabi Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund. Researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovators across the emirate are invited to submit their proposals.
This 2026 fund iteration emphasizes high-caliber research aimed at enhancing precision medicine, boosting early disease detection, and facilitating data-driven clinical decisions. Key focus areas encompass precision medicine, genomics diagnostics, cell and gene therapies, as well as addressing cancer diagnostics and treatments, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, psychological health, reproductive health, and public health strategies.
Evaluations will prioritize scientific merit, practical viability, potential for collaboration, and alignment with Abu Dhabi’s health priorities.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH Abu Dhabi, noted, “The unveiling of the 2026 Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund reinforces our commitment to nurturing an innovative scientific landscape. Our aim is to support research that fosters clinical advancements and enhances health outcomes in our community.”
His Excellency Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an, emphasized the partnership's significance in tackling social and health challenges. “Ma’an is devoted to empowering researchers and innovators whose contributions will benefit future generations and positively influence the community,” he stated.
The fund seeks research with tangible translational value and demonstrable clinical benefits within Abu Dhabi’s healthcare framework, bolstering the emirate’s status as a prime global center for life sciences and research excellence.
In the previous 2024-2025 funding cycle, over 150 applications from healthcare providers, research institutions, and academic bodies were received, leading to funding for twelve significant projects focused on immunologic disorders and innovative cancer prevention strategies.
Interested participants are urged to explore the DoH website to understand the application process and submit proposals through the live application portal.
