The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has unveiled the detailed schedule for the upcoming 2026 Abu Dhabi Marine Festival, occurring from January 10 to 18, 2026, offering nine thrilling days that merge the rich maritime heritage of the Emirates with contemporary marine sports.
This festival features five unique marine championships, celebrating Abu Dhabi’s historic bond with the sea while showcasing the emirate as an emerging hotspot for international marine events. Merging traditional races with modern formats, this occasion aims to engage a diverse audience of participants and enthusiasts from around the region and globally.
Among the festival’s highlights are the celebrated heritage dhow sailing races. The Abu Al Abyad Dhow Sailing Race (60ft category) and the Hudayriyat Dhow Sailing Race (22ft category) will once again demonstrate the skill and teamwork that are cornerstones of Emirati sailing traditions. These races embody the UAE’s deep maritime heritage, where sailing represents a lifestyle rather than merely a sport.
Also featured is the Al Alya Traditional Bawaneesh Sailing Race, showcasing 12-foot dhows. Noted for its competitive spirit and rich cultural significance, this race allows sailors to exhibit both technical skill and cultural understanding in demanding conditions.
Community engagement remains a vital aspect of the festival as well. The Abu Dhabi Women’s Fishing Championship, taking place on January 10, emphasizes the increasing participation of women in marine sports and fosters greater involvement in fishing and competitive activities.
On the modern sports front, the festival will culminate with the UAE Formula 4 Powerboat Championship on January 17 and 18. This fast-paced event serves as a dynamic counterpoint to the traditional races, offering thrilling competition and advanced technical performance, capturing the interest of a new generation of marine sports aficionados.
With such a diverse array of events, the 2026 Abu Dhabi Marine Festival reinforces the capital's status as a pivotal center for marine sports, skillfully harmonizing tradition with modernity while emphasizing the UAE’s profound connection to the sea.
