Extreme Heat in Mina as Hajj Pilgrims Face 45°C Temperatures

Post by : Saif Nasser

Thousands of Hajj pilgrims in Mina are facing extremely hot weather conditions as temperatures reportedly climbed close to 45 degrees Celsius during one of the most important stages of the annual Islamic pilgrimage. The intense heat has raised health concerns for worshippers gathering in large numbers under the desert sun.

Saudi authorities have introduced several precautionary measures to help pilgrims stay safe during the extreme weather. Medical teams, emergency response units, cooling stations, shaded walkways, and water distribution points have been placed across key pilgrimage areas to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration. Officials have also advised worshippers to avoid long exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.

Despite the harsh conditions, millions of Muslims from around the world continue participating in the spiritual journey with devotion and discipline. Many pilgrims were seen carrying umbrellas, wearing protective clothing, and regularly using water sprays to cope with the rising temperatures. Volunteers and healthcare workers are also actively assisting elderly pilgrims and those experiencing fatigue due to the heat.

Weather experts say temperatures in the region often rise sharply during the summer Hajj season, making crowd management and medical preparedness critically important. Authorities continue monitoring the situation closely to ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims throughout the holy rituals.

The annual Hajj pilgrimage remains one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, bringing together Muslims from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds in a shared act of faith and worship.
