After finishing the important journey of Hajj, many pilgrims enjoy a special tradition of buying gifts. This usually happens as Hajj comes to an end. Pilgrims go to the busy malls and markets around the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Buying gifts is a way for them to show their happiness and thankfulness for completing the sacred Hajj rituals. It also helps them prepare to go back home with blessings from Allah.
These gifts are very special because they remind people of the holy places they visited. Some of the most popular gifts are Zamzam water, prayer beads, and copies of the Holy Quran. Pilgrims also like to buy perfumes such as incense and musk. Dates are another favorite, especially the Ajwa dates, which are well-known for their special quality.
During the days after Hajj, the markets in Makkah and Madinah become very busy and lively. Pilgrims from many countries come to shop. The markets include modern malls near the Haram area, traditional markets like Aziziyah and Hijaz Market, and the bazaars near the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. Shopkeepers get ready for the pilgrims by offering many different products. They often have special sales and discounts, especially when pilgrims buy many items at once.
This gift-buying tradition is more than just shopping. It is a way to celebrate the spiritual success of Hajj, to show love to family and friends, and to keep strong connections with them after returning home.
