Six Injured Following IndiaOne Aircraft Emergency Landing Near Rourkela

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Rourkela, Odisha:

On Saturday afternoon, a nine-seater private plane operated by IndiaOne Airlines made a forced landing near Rourkela, resulting in injuries to six individuals, encompassing both pilot and co-pilot.

Officials reported that shortly after takeoff, the aircraft encountered a technical failure and landed in agricultural land near Katibandha Kansara, close to Jalda, at approximately 1:20 to 1:30 PM.

The aircraft, identified as a Cessna Caravan 208 with the registration number VT-KSS, was en route from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela, having taken off at 12:27 PM with two pilots and four passengers on board.

The Odisha government praised the pilots for their quick and professional response after identifying the malfunction, promptly issuing a Mayday call and executing a controlled landing that ensured safety for everyone on board.

“Thanks to the professionalism of the pilots, the landing was accomplished safely, preventing any loss of lives,” stated the official communication from the state government.

IndiaOne Airlines confirmed that the aircraft only traveled about four to five kilometers before the emergency arose. The airline is currently collaborating with aviation authorities and the Odisha government to support the affected passengers and crew.

All injured individuals were rescued and taken to a Rourkela hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities, including police and fire services, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Due to a leak of aviation fuel, the area was cordoned off for safety, restricting public access.
